Terms of Service

By signing up for or using Scraplift, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. The service

Scraplift is operated by Web Developer NY LLC ("Scraplift", "we", "us").

Scraplift is a tool for scrap-metal haulers to identify metals, see yard prices in their area, track loads, and reconcile weigh tickets. It is also a tool for scrap-yard operators to publish their daily prices, and — through Lifts — a way for people to offer unwanted scrap metal for free pickup by a hauler (section 8). We do not buy or sell scrap metal ourselves and we are not a party to any transaction or pickup between a hauler and a yard, or between a hauler and a person giving away scrap.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. By creating an account you confirm both.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for the activity on your account. Don't share your password, OTP codes, or refresh tokens.
• One person, one account. Don't impersonate someone else.
• If you operate a yard listing, you confirm you are authorized to do so on behalf of that business. Bad-faith claims will be revoked.

4. Pricing data is provided "as is"

• Yard prices come from yard operators (when self-published) or from manual updates by our team. We don't guarantee they're correct, current, or honored at the scale.
• "Above market" / "Below market" badges are computed from public LME spot prices and typical scrap-recovery percentages. They are estimates, not promises about what a yard will actually pay.
• Lens classifications and weight estimates from photos are best-effort. Always confirm at the scale.
• You alone are responsible for what you bring to a yard and what you accept as payment.

5. Subscriptions

• Plans on scraplift.app (web and Android): Basic $5.99/month (400 scans), Pro $12.99/month (1,000 scans), Enterprise $29.99/month (3,000 scans).
• iOS App Store pricing (billed by Apple) is the same: Basic $5.99/month, Pro $12.99/month, Enterprise $29.99/month.
• Plans bill immediately and renew on the cycle you picked. There is no free trial — every new account instead gets a one-time batch of free scans. We'll never surprise-charge. Early-access codes may grant a limited free period, which is stated on the screen where you redeem it.
• Cancel anytime — web subscriptions in the app or at scraplift.app; App Store subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.
• Refunds for accidental renewals on web billing: contact us within 14 days. App Store purchases are refunded through Apple.
• Web billing is handled by Stripe; iOS billing by Apple. Their terms also apply to the payment portion.

6. What you may not do

• Don't post fake yard prices, fake yard listings, or fake claim ownership of a listing you don't operate.
• Don't scrape, mass-download, or resell our pricing data. (You can export your own loads as CSV.)
• Don't use the service to harass other users or yards.
• Don't try to break our security or impersonate Scraplift in any messaging.

7. Yard operators specifically

• Free during pilot. We may introduce paid placement features later; we'll notify you before any change.
• Update your prices honestly. Recurring large discrepancies between published prices and actual paid amounts (as flagged by haulers' weigh-ticket scans) may result in your listing being suspended.
• You may delete your account or unclaim your listing at any time via the yard portal or by emailing us.

8. Lifts — free pickup posts

Lifts lets a person ("poster") post scrap metal they want gone, and lets a hauler claim it and pick it up. Posting does not require an account. These terms apply to posters as well as haulers; a poster accepts them by submitting a post.

• Free both ways. The poster is not charged and does not pay the hauler; the hauler does not pay the poster. Asking for or offering payment through Lifts is not allowed and will close the post.
• You must be allowed to give it away. By posting you confirm the item is yours or that you have the owner's permission. We record that confirmation with the post. Posting property that is not yours to give away is prohibited and may be reported to law enforcement.
• Photos and address. A post needs at least one photo and a street address. Haulers see the photos and an approximate area (roughly a quarter to half a mile) — not the address. The exact address is shown only to the one hauler you confirm, after you confirm the pickup — from the status page for your post, or from the link we text you if you chose texts.
• Your number and texts. Your mobile number identifies your post so only you can manage it; it is never shown to haulers. Texts are optional: we text you only if you tick "Text me updates about this post" when you post, and agreeing to texts is never a condition of posting. If you tick it, you agree to receive automated texts from Scraplift about that post (posted, claimed, on the way, picked up) — up to 6 texts per post. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Without texts you manage everything from the status page for your post.
• Claims. A claim is exclusive: one hauler at a time. It expires if the poster does not confirm within the time shown. A hauler who backs out after the poster confirmed, or does not arrive by the pickup deadline, receives a strike; three strikes in 30 days pauses Lifts for that hauler for 7 days.
• No-shows. If a hauler arrives and the item is gone, the post closes and the poster receives a strike; three strikes block that number from posting.
• Ratings. After a pickup, each side may rate the other once. Ratings are shown to other users in summary form (average and count).
• Safety and hazardous items. Do not post items that are unsafe to handle or illegal to scrap (for example lithium batteries, mercury devices, sealed pressurized containers that cannot be made safe, ammunition). Appliances containing refrigerant may be posted; the hauler is responsible for lawful refrigerant recovery before sale.
• Estimates. Any metal, weight or value estimate shown on a post is generated from the photo and is a rough guide, not a promise of what the item is or what it will pay.
• Pickups are between you. We are not a party to the pickup. We do not inspect items, verify posters or haulers beyond a phone number, or supervise the handover. You are responsible for your own safety and property during a pickup.
• Moderation. We may remove a post, release a claim, or block a phone number or account at any time, for example after reports or repeated no-shows.

9. Intellectual property

• The Scraplift app, brand, code, and pricing database are ours.
• Photos and loads you upload remain yours. By uploading, you grant us a license to process and anonymize them so the service can run and improve.

10. Disclaimers and limits

• The service is provided "as is" without warranty.
• We are not liable for missed payouts, wrong identifications, yard disputes, or business decisions you make based on app data.
• For Lifts, we are not liable for the condition of an item, a poster or hauler who does not show up, anything that happens during a pickup, or the handling of any item after pickup.
• Our total liability to you in any 12-month period will not exceed the greater of $100 or what you paid us in that period.

11. Termination

You can stop using and delete your account anytime in Settings. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

12. Changes

If we change these terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give you at least 14 days' notice in-app.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Suffolk County, NY.
